ClipRoute is a Chrome extension that saves user-chosen web content as Markdown directly to Google Drive. This policy explains exactly what the extension touches, why, and where it goes.

The short version

ClipRoute has no developer-owned content server. Page content is processed in Chrome after a user-initiated save action and transferred directly to Google Drive. No analytics, ads, or sale of personal data.

Data ClipRoute handles

Active-tab content

When you click ClipRoute, the extension may read the title, URL, readable article text, page description, or the text selection in the active tab. It does not continuously monitor browsing and does not read other tabs.

Extension-local data

Saving preferences, folder rules, recent-save history, and captures waiting in the local retry queue are stored with Chrome extension storage on your device.

Authentication

Chrome Identity handles the Google OAuth token. ClipRoute uses that token in memory to call Google Drive and does not log it or send it to a ClipRoute server.

Google Drive access

ClipRoute requests only the Google Drive drive.file scope. This allows it to create and work with files and folders that ClipRoute creates or that you explicitly open with ClipRoute; it does not grant broad access to every file in your Drive.

Prepared Markdown and file metadata are sent directly from the extension to the Google Drive API. Your saved files are governed by your Google account and Google's policies.

How data is used

Data is used only to provide the single purpose you requested: preparing and saving selected web content to Google Drive, retrying temporary failures, and showing local status. It is not used for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or unrelated product features.

Retention and deletion

Successful captures leave the local retry queue; a small recent-save record remains locally for status.
Failed captures remain locally until a retry succeeds, you delete the queued capture, or you uninstall ClipRoute.
Delete local data: delete individual items under Failed saves, or uninstall the extension to remove its local preferences, rules, queue, and history.
Disconnecting stops ClipRoute from using Google Drive in that browser. Files already saved to Drive remain yours until you delete them in Drive.

Limited Use disclosure

ClipRoute's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. ClipRoute also complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy.
